Gathered in this zine is the writing and artwork created by participants of DSTL Arts' Conchas y Café creative writing classes for adults. Through poetry and short fiction, drawings and photo composition, these workshops empower participants as the artists they are, helping them develop new skills in storytelling. The theme for Conchas y Café Zine; Volume 4, Issue 2, is Poetry of Place. Through poetry that reflects on the community, on our community, we attempt to develop a portrait of Los Ángeles, the City of Angels, the place we call home. Although it's not all palm trees and fantasy, we still manage to find beauty in the streets of our community. All sales from this zine are used to continue this workshop.
