These are narratives of the hopes, dreams, joy, and certainly the sorrows of countless people held in bondage in the land of the free. Their continued existence and the knowledge we gain from them remind us that the past belongs to us all. This understanding strengthens our shared humanity and therein lies our hope for a better future for all.
