Photography being a medium that can be reproduced and which often exists only to be reproduced lends itself potently to publication. Oddly the 'original' even in many print iterations, when seen in terms of scale, texture and tone can surpass even the finest photographic reproduction of a photograph. Even so the joys of having a retrospective in the hand, accompanied by captions, essays, explanations, are many, and in some ways the best way of having an introduction to the work, and also providing the most easily accessible route to knowledge - and appreciation.
