She is suspicious when her daughter's rapist is murdered shortly after being released from prison. The detective assigned the case suggests in the newspaper that this murder may be the work of a serial killer. She meets with the detective to share her suspicion and unexpectedly finds herself attracked to him. The good looking detective still recovering from the death of his wife is a sensitive, caring man that exhibits feelings not normally seen in detectives. Unknowingly, her attraction to him has made the detective a target of her deranged exhusband. The ex-husband uses his technological skills to make the detectives life a mess. When he has tried every thing in his power to ruin the detective and it still doesn't cause his exwife to break off their relationship, he decides to have him killed.Meanwhile, the rape victim has become a strong and intelligent college student who works with the detective in solving the case eventhough she knew it could incriminate her father. Her father's last attempt to kill the detective puts his whole family at risk and requires him to intervene to save his daughter.
