Reseña del libro "Greedy (en Inglés)"

Jonathan Lucas had everything in life. He was an internet genius. His website - WHIZ -had made him a millionaire at 24, and in a few weeks when WHIZ went public he could be a billionaire. But he made a foolish mistake driving his new Mercedes drunk during a storm. He was heading to his family's lake house when the storm broke, and being unfamiliar with the new car, was searching for the wiper's knob when he struck something. At first, he thought it was a deer., but it was a young woman runner, instead. Jonathan didn't want to follow his lawyer, Edwin Sloan's advice: put the young woman's body in the car and drive away. But Sloan was a persuasive force. He didn't get to be the powerful lawyer he was by being weak, and he had too much to lose if Jonathan messed up his life. Jonathan wanted to call the police. He was debating what to do when three teenagers - Benny Boyd, Carly Andrews and Zach Warner drove up in an old truck and asked if they could help. Jonathan took the young woman's body to the lake house. He was smitten with the pretty dead girl and dreaded what he was advised to do. Dump Ms. Jones into the lake. After placing JoyJones in the lake - he had found her name on her driver's license in her fanny pack. Jonathan drove north. Any place to get away from the horror he had just witnessed. He drove until he was hungry and found a roadside diner in the mountains. From there he drove to a nearby motel that was ran by a Vietnamese family. He shut himself up in one of the room where he stayed for a week. Every day for a week Carly Andrews, who considered herself an amateur detective, as she had read all the Nancy Drew books, searched the newspapers for any notice of the accidental death. She and the boys had been in awe of meeting Jonathan Lucas. But there was nothing in the papers, or on TV, and she intended to find out why. Jonathan was not the same outgoing person he was before the mishap. He had kept Joy Jones's personal items, including her drivers license and fanny pack which included her cellphone. Now he fantasized about Joy Jones. Detectives Edie Francis and Jesse Peterson were assigned to Joy Jones's missing person's case. The young woman had disappeared and her live-in boy friend was worried. They were both studying for their final college exams when Joy went missing. Edie had quit smoking and resented the fact that Jesse smoked around her. The car was off limits, so Jesse, enjoying the opportunity to piss Edie off, hung out the window with his cigarette, irritating her further. The detectives got one lead from the roommate. Joy had had a confrontation with one of her professors, who had allegedly made sexual advances to her. The detectives would look into it. Benny Boyd was Carly Andrews boyfriend and he was not happy that Carly wanted to play detective and find out why nothing was mentioned about Jonathan Lucas hitting the girls. Jonathan had given the kids his calling card at the scene - a big mistake on his part. But Carly was unstoppable. She would solve this case. Edie and Jesse met with the professor who had allegedly assaulted Joy Jones, but the detectives were surprised to learn what had happened was the professor and Ms Jones had had a one time sexual encounter and Ms. Jones had blackmailed him. Demanding money, which he had given to her. And, no, he did not kill her. Sloan approached Jonathan, gleefully, with the news he had learned, that Joy Jones, the girl he had fantasized about, mourned about killing, was nothing but a cheap hooker and an embezzler. Now, they could get on with the upcoming public showing of WHIZ. He told the boy he could do more with his money to help people than he could locked up in prison for ten years.
