This research titled "Comparative Study of Aṅguli Pramāṇa of Urdhva and Adhaḥ Śākhā as described in Bṛhattrayī" has been conceived and completed in the following manner: Chapter 1: Introduction, It includes concise introduction about need of such a study, concept of pramāṇa śārīra, aṅguli pramāṇa, anthropology, aims and objectives and a short review of relevant previous works done in this regard. Chapter 2: Materials and methodology. This chapter includes materials of the study like journals, all saṃhitā of bṛhattrayī with commentaries and other ancient literature. Methodology includes the study design of the dissertation. Chapter 3: Review of āyurvedic literature. This chapter includes description of māna, types of measures described in āyurvedic classics, añjali and aṅguli pramāṇas, a brief description of aṅgula as a unit of measure, etymology of the word aṅgula, a critical analysis of different prevalent opinions regarding aṅguli pramāṇa, detailed description of various contexts in which aṅguli pramāṇa has been used in āyurvedic saṃhitās.
