In the process of pursuing higher education, we were fed a lot of information. We endured teachers, parents, our peers, and even the internet trying to impose their ideologies of achieving academic success, however, most of the information which we encountered turned out to be overly generalized or blatantly false. We want you to understand what guidance to follow and what to forget. We want to teach you a complete sense of school as both a lifestyle and a systematic process. At times we will be very blunt in how we lay everything out, but we ensure that you will be better for it. Getting into college is one of the most stressful experiences you will ever go through in your entire life. We want you to understand what not to do without having to put in hundreds of hours of research and talking to thousands of students, teachers, and admissions officers like we have. Seriously, take our word for it, we wish we had this guide to motivate and set us on the correct path without having to carve it out for ourselves. Sadly, a lot of the information teachers, parents and worst of all guidance counselors is outdated or flat out wrong, which can in effect destroy your chances of attending your dream school. We would hope that our guidelines help motivate you in your journey of higher education. We encourage you to use our advice first, rather than rely on the ways of many of the teachers, adults, and your peers who may not know any better than to repeat what they've heard. We have done all the work for you and are telling you the information that took all of our time and sanity to learn. We have always had good people surrounding us but we received a lot of old outdated information that gave us nothing to help us gain a better understanding of the application process. Please, and we cannot stress this enough, allow this information to guide you. We can assure you this information could not be more correct and up to date in order to assure you can, enjoy the educational process instead of worrying about it. After reading this book please allow yourself to get accustomed to its lessons, and then enjoy your time in school. It's a long process but it's truly not the destination it's the journey. The road will be long and hard, don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but part of your journey in life is pushing yourself to new heights. We wish we could tell you an easy path where all you had to do was sit back and relax, but that is simply a fairy tale. Although, there will be shortcuts along the way not all shortcuts are the same. We outline many of the do's and don'ts of this process so be forewarned. Please fight a good fight and push through the hard times no matter what obstacles stand in your way. We sincerely can't accept you failing. People you will meet in your life and in your classes may have it worse than you and always remember that. It's your job to push yourself as well as others to greatness. One day if we all work to help out the person next to us no one will need help. We wrote these guidelines based on our experiences in order to guide you down your own path. As information becomes more available to the general public with the ushering in of the internet, the competition of getting into college has just intensified. Throughout our lives, we have experienced our peers and friends shy away from sharing their advice and wisdom in fear of giving their friends a competitive advantage over someone else. You and your peers will be hard-pressed to learn everything from the people around you. Our guide was written to break down these barriers in hope of opening doors for you. We hope to have answered all your questions and make you start thinking about the next ones
